Magdalena, what do you think about today’s victory?

Today's win is not the only great thing I've had (this season), there were also some other great things for me — it was a great year for me: I reached Wimbledon semifinals, I reached thet Top30, maybe I’ll be i the Top20 soon. I began this year ranked four hundred something, and I now I will be a Top20 player. I had just one goal before — to make it to the Australian Open main draw, and now I will be seeded there.

Beating Maria in Moscow, in front of her home crowd – is this something special for you? Or it’s just an ordinary win?

Of course it’s not an ordinary win – it’s really special for me, because you don’t beat Maria Sharapova every day, especially on her home court It was amazing for me, even though sometimes it felt like the Fed Cup where the whole crowd is against me but I accepted that. It is a memorable win for me anyway.

Maria said [after the match], that you were doing the right things on the court, especially tactically. According to you — what was the right things you've done on the court?

I suppose I was playing tactically really well and that was bothering her. Also, I was serving really good. She tried to be aggressive against me, against my serve. I also was trying to be aggressive on my return. Maria served really well, even converted break at the beginning, so I had to be good at returns, focus on it. I also was mixing rhythm a lot, which Sharapova doesn’t like too much.

How different is the surface on the Moscow courts as compared to the surface in Linz? Did you have enough time to adapt?

Courts in Linz were super slow. Here they are much faster, so it was hard enough. Actually I prefer this kind of fast surface, but it was difficult for me to adapt. I arrived here about 20 o’clock, today I had only a 25-min. long warm-up and then went straight to the court. Maybe that’s why I was so relaxed — I had nothing to lose. Sharapova is a favorite (at any tournament) regardless of her ranking.

You play on a really high level now, do you think that with this game you can be a Top10 player?

There are many factors to be in the Top10: you have to be healthy, be consistent on the same high level all the time. My own problem is the lack of consistency; I can’t have the same level on a permanent basis. But this year has been amazing for me and I think I raised my level a lot. However, you never know what will happen next year. I just want to tak it atch by match and my special goal is to be healthy because during my career I wasn’t too lucky with my health.

How much your team spent studying the latest matches of Maria Sharapova? Which are her weak and strong points? What was your plan for this match?

Yesterday I was too tired to study her videos. I arrived at past-midnight and the only thing I wanted was to have a rest adn a good sleep. Obviously, Maria is such a known player, I have seen her play so many times so I knew what I had to do, what I could do and what Maria wouldn’t like. So I was trying to do that, I served well. I was also very active on my return and I mixed the tempo during the match. And it worked well, I guess.

After scoring today’s win, do you feel confident enough to take this title in Moscow? And if so, who will be your greatest opponent?

I don’t think so far. I didn’t even expect that I would win this match. I will go point by point and will see what happens next.
