Anna, what do you make of your first match in singles?

I am very happy with my win today, for me it was very important to win my first match in the main draw in Moscow. It was a tough match both mentally and physically. I am happy I managed all that and I hope I will play better in my next match.

Serving for the match at 5/3 it felt like you were a little bit nervous, was it because you wanted so badly to win your first main draw match in Moscow?

No, I was losing my concentration from time to time in today’s match so when the score was 5/3 that was one of such moments. I lost my concentration and dropped a game on my serve, unfortunately.

You requested to see your coach Patricia Tarabini, what advice did she give you?

She advised me to be calm and not to be in a hurry and follow my game plan. Nothing special.

Why did you choose a female coach? Some WTA tennis players say they prefer to hire women as coaches as they feel themselves more comfortable. What about you?

It just so happened. Honestly, it is difficult to imagine I will be working with a man.

Today you played in singles and doubles. How tough is it to play both in the same day?

I asked to schedule my matches in different days but as lots of players haven’t arrived yet I played two matches today, the positive thing is I will have a day-off tomorrow.

Do you have a priority in playing only singles in future?

No, I want to play doubles maybe I will skip playing doubles at some tournaments to do better in singles but as I have already said in the interview to the official web-site of the tournament playing doubles helps me to improve my game.

You have said you like to play doubles with Viktoria Kuzmova as you are good friends with her. What can you say about your team with Yulia Putintseva?

It is very important for me to team with someone I have a good rapport with. We are good friends with Yulia, I like to play with her, we are very positive on court and understand each other pretty well. It is our second time we are playing together, our first tournament was the US Open, where we did well, we went through couple of rounds. To be honest we decided to team up for this tournament one hour before the final entry deadline.

This year «VTB Kremlin Cup» switched the arena for Ice Palace «Krylatskoe». How do you like it?

I like it better. It is cozier.

How do you find the atmosphere?

It is pleasant to play in a new place. Of course, I feel the crowd though today I was playing against my compatriot and I felt the crowd was for more on her side. But I enjoy playing at home anyway.

There is a chance your next opponent will be another Russian - Ekaterina Alexandrova, is it tough to play against your compatriots?

No, I don’t have anything special to tune myself up for matches against Russian girls. We are good friends with Anastasia Potapova, we support each other so when I saw the draw I was a little bit upset.

What goal have you set for «VTB Kremlin Cup»?

To win in the first round (laughter) to stay within the Top100 for good.

What is next?

Now I want more, I will try to win as much as many matches as possible here, for sure.
